This quick guide will show you exactly what you need to know to successfully play, enjoy and win more bingo games than ever before.  Let’s get started!

5 line bingo rules

5 line bingo is otherwise known as Swedish bingo. The first thing you need to understand about this game is that it is played at pace. And unlike other bingo variants which you are going to encounter, with this game you must cover all of the numbers on your card. First off, you will notice that the game features a 5 x 5 card with no free square in the middle. In some ways it is similar to 90 ball bingo, but it’s entirely its own game.

You complete 1 line, 2 lines, 3 lines, 4 lines and, 5 lines to finally win the big prize. Typically you will need to complete a single horizontal line for the first bingo, but some sites allow vertical lines or diagonal lines as well. Games will feature up to 5 winners (for 5 lines) and the number of balls is typically limited to 22 for the first line of bingo. The number of balls increases for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th bingo but typically never hits 75.

75 ball bingo rules

This game is the North American favourite variant of bingo. It is played on a 5 x 5 grid with the letters B-I-N-G-O designated for specific groups of numbers. For example B contains 1-15; N contains 16-30 and so forth. The numbers go all the way up to 75. This means that only numbers from those groups can be allocated to specific columns on the bingo card. To win, you must complete a winning pattern. These include diagonal lines, horizontal lines or vertical lines. It is also possible to complete picture patterns, coveralls, 4 corners and so forth. The bingo caller announces each of the numbers for example I – 20, and players must either manually daub the numbers, or it will automatically be done for them.

90 ball bingo rules

90 ball bingo is the favourite game for players in the UK and Europe. As you might have guessed, the bingo cards have numbers ranging from 1-90. This game is completely different to 75 ball bingo in that there are 9 columns and 3 rows. While there are 9 spaces per row, only 5 of them feature numbers – the other 4 are blank. There are 3 ways to win with 90 ball bingo, including completing 1 line, 2 lines and 3 lines – a Full House. The more lines you complete the bigger your prize.

Note: it doesn’t matter which lines you complete to win for 1 line and 2 line prizes – as long as you complete a full line.
